External Residents

Overview

External residents are people who rotate through your program from other institutions, or your own residents who rotate at other programs. CallGrid lets you track both directions so your schedule stays accurate.

Off-service residents (visiting)

Navigate to External Residents from the dashboard to manage residents visiting your program from other institutions.

• Add a visiting resident — Enter their name, PGY level, type, and the institution they are coming from.
• Activate or deactivate — Toggle a visiting resident’s status as their rotation starts and ends. Only active visiting residents appear in the scheduler and can be assigned to slots.

Off-service assignments (your residents elsewhere)

Navigate to Off-Service from the dashboard to track when your own residents are rotating at other programs.

• Record an off-service assignment — Specify which resident is leaving, which institution they are going to, and the date range of their rotation.
• Scheduling impact — Residents marked as off-service are excluded from your program’s call schedule for the duration of their external rotation.

Service links

Service links connect clinical services across programs for coordination. If your program shares residents with another institution, service links help keep both sides in sync.
